Special Needs

The Special Needs Class meets weekly in the community center.  It currently has 19 students enrolled. The class is taught by a paid local teacher and has several paid assistants. Currently, the program includes:

  • Each student having the opportunity to attend a 1.5 hour class in one of 2 sessions offered

  • Lunch and transportation to and from class

  • Monthly home visits to those students who are unable to attend

  • Opportunities to participate in field trips, special parties and community events.

  • Monthly support group for the caregivers

  • Transportation to and from community center to the support group

With the help of generous sponsors we are able to continue this program.  In the future we hope to grow the program to include more children in La Calle Real and other neighboring communities. All of the administrative work is done on a volunteer basis.  100% of all money received is used to run the program, buy supplies and pay the teachers and assistants in the community.
