Rosario Lopez will be our next intern in La Calle Real! She graduated from UC Davis this September after having double majored in Clinical Nutrition and Chicano Studies. Rosario grew up in Lancaster, California and enjoyed playing soccer when she was little. She was put in contact with WCRF after a presentation by Hal Young
Hermes Reyes finally reached his micro-loan goal. Thanks to those who supported him. He will break ground on his aquaponic fish farming business and start his project early next year. SOCIAL SITUATION IN NICARAGUA The social situation here is relatively calm. We can travel safely from one city to another and the flow of tourist coming down to Nicaragua is beginning to go up, as shown by the visits of cruise ships arriving at Atlantic ports of the country. The next Business Class for La Calle Real is scheduled to begin on December 12th. This class is intended to help those in the community overcome obstacles in establishing and maintaining their business. Dania Garcia is the first student in our new English program. This program is taught one on one by our linguist, Juan Carlos Munguia. The program has five levels, each requiring a written and verbal test. Dania is now involved in many different projects in LCR. She is the coordinator for the Bright Water education

As many of you know Juan suffered a medical emergency on the morning of November 7. He has received medical attention and is now back at the community center supervising activities and feeling better. He is not 100% yet, but seems to be getting stronger each day.. He thanks everybody for your thoughts and prayers.
As of December 11, a new joint venture was started at the community center. The joint venture will be managed by Hermes Reyes. the project will consist of bringing pigs to market in Leon in the last six months. The pigs are bought at a wholesale price from local farmers and are resold at auction
