For almost 3 years Karla has worked tirelessly with the special needs children in the community. Though she has never had formal training in teaching children with special needs, she loves and cares for them as her own. Karla prepares lessons each week to teach the children in a formal class at the center. She creates a classroom and lesson plan that engages all who attend. For those children that can’t attend, she is in close communication with them and their caregivers always aware of why they have missed. Many times she goes to their homes during the week to visit them personally. The love and compassion Karla has shown these young children that are many times forgotten in the community is inspiring. This program is succeeding because Karla loves these kids and gives her all to create an atmosphere of love and acceptance.

Karla Patricia Pinell, this is the teacher who is in charge of the Saturday classes taught to the Special Children of the community of La Calle Real de Tilapia. Karla has been working for 17 years with children under 12 years old age at the Primary School of La Calle Real. It has been a blessing for Karla to work with these children because through this work she feels that one becomes more human, giving them love and helping them to be able to fend for themselves. She is very grateful to the sponsors of the WCRF who, through their generous contributions, make this project of life and love a reality for those children who have given her the opportunity to work on this wonderful project. One of her greatest expectations for the future is to be able to give the children the respective therapies and to have the necessary tools to give them a better care in order for their health to improve.
