Joint Venture Business Program

Program Updates:

As of December 11, a new joint venture was started at the community center. The joint venture will be managed by Hermes Reyes. The project will consist of bringing pigs to market in Leon in the last six months. The pigs are bought at a wholesale price from local farmers and are resold at auction in Leon for a higher price.

In another attempt to stimulate economy in the community, the Community Center offered the sale of agriculture products such as seed and fertilizer to the La Calle Real Community this past year. We are pleased to report that the contribution towards supplies will be repaid by the end of this month. This was a success and we will be repeating the process next spring. Once again the Community Center is a focus for economic growth and development in the community.

Program Description

This program involves WCRF and the Community Council (CC) joining with a community member or group in establishing a business initially supported by WCRF/CC. The business is usually operated from the community center, and once it is establish there is a split of profits between the operating group and the Community Council fund. Current projects using this concept is the agricultural product sales, and special sewing projects.
