When traveling to Nicaragua it is such a different world than what we enjoy here. Where we go it is a world of extreme poverty where many people live without plumbing, refrigeration, and cook over a wood fire. Employment is scarce or obtained for wages at a rate of a few dollars a day.
We work hard at improving education, health, job opportunities, and a better quality of life. But I think our real value is hope and goodwill that we bring when these people know that we care enough about them to leave our comfortable homes to aid them in their struggles. We welcome progress in our endeavors, but this work is really about love and compassion. One only has to visit La Calle Real once to experience the gratitude and hospitality if these impoverished and humble people.
