Introduction

Veronica  Solis has recently taken over as coordinator for the special-needs program at WCRF community center in La Calle Real, Nicaragua.
Veronica is not new to Worldwide Child Relief Foundation and it’s programs. Dave Sargent and  Hal Young first met Veronica nearly 10 years ago at the secondary school in LCR. Since then she has been a great supporter of WCRF  programs at the local schools and our community center. She has been especially involved in our various sewing programs throughout the years, teaching many students to create their first sewing project. She has always been a well respected teacher by her students and colleagues.

Interview with Veronica

As a teacher, Verónica received her first training to work with special-neeeds children in the normal school of Chinandega.

In general, she has 5-years of experience working with 6 to 11 years old children in the primary school of La Calle Real de Tolapa.

Veronica thinks that the project of special-needs children sponsored by volunteers from USA through the WCRF is something wonderful and very positive for the special-needs children of our community, since these children are very rarely taken into account for sociocultural activities. In the classes I teach them, they have the possibility of sharing and expressing their feelings with other children in the same conditions, which allows them to realize that they are not alone in their difficulties, that there are brothers and sisters who, even though they are far away geographically, they think and care about them. Those of us without special-needs learn a lot from these children because when we feel overwhelmed by mishaps in life, it is enough to contemplate how they bear the burden in their lives
humbly and without complaint. I think that even a short moment that we share with them makes us better human beings.

I also believe that this project is very important because it shows us that brotherhood among human beings is possible.

May God bless all those beautiful people who make this project possible, and bless their families and their country.
