An amazing project has started at the Community Center in La Calle Real de Tolapa: The creation of a vegetable garden.  This is providing opportunities for members of the community to acquire the skills necessary to create gardens of their own in their individual homes. This will help provide food for themselves with the limited and challenging economy of Nicaragua.

The garden is in its last planting phase. We expect to have the first harvest of Tomatoes and Bell peppers in less than three months, among other vegetables. All this is made possible thanks to the kind supporter of the WCRF and the University of California at Davis. UC Davis has provided two specialists who have been guiding the residents of La Calle Real.
