Rotary Club Water Project

The water delivery system in the community of la Calle Real hasn’t been repaired or expanded in over 25 years, leaving many families in the community without a healthy water source. They get water from self-made wells that in most cases are contaminated, causing widespread water borne illnesses. The Rotary Club of Cameron Park, California, has approved funding for a large scale, water improvement project involving a total overhaul of the electrical system, water, pumps, piping, and purification mechanisms. A group of six Rotarians visited Nicaragua in November to inspect the project and move forward on the next phase. This project is expected to eventually provide clean water to approximately 450 families in several communities throughout the region.
